I got this book after reading "A Quick and Easy Guide to Trans and Queer Identities," recommended by my nonbinary sibling. That book was funny, intelligent, and patient, so I thought I'd get this one to try it out. This book, however, seems very adversarial. It's almost like the nb author is trying to pick a fight with the reader. I don't mind careful correction, as that's what I bought it for, but the way this comes across is that you're being scolded for literally nothing. In picking up this book, it should be understood that the reader is making a good-faith effort to learn more about something they may not be very familiar with. Instead, it felt like "every cis person is the enemy." Perhaps because this is not my personal life experience it didn't resonate with me the same as it would with an enby, but I wouldn't have anticipated being insulted while trying to learn. The good, valuable information was drowned out by the petulant blanket criticism of the nb author. I would not recommend this to anyone, least of all someone who is newly introduced to nb personalities/identities/language/etc. It reeks of resentment, and that's not how I'd want my identity explored by people who are seeking to learn.
