As a quilter whose entire fabric "stash" would fall mostly in the "scrap" category, I'd discovered long ago that most quilting books that claim to be for making "scrap" quilts don't really use scraps at all...everything gets cut out of larger pieces of fabric. This is one of three books I am so grateful to have discovered this year because they actually use SCRAPS. BUT, it isn't just the unique scrap quilt projects inside that made me appreciate this book, it is also because of the authors' candid comments about our scraps and suggestions of how to get them under control. (Of all of the books I have in my quilting library, this and the two others previously mentioned are the only ones I've actually read...usually I just pick and choose from books for techniques and patterns.) They also came up with a clever way to use up scraps to make cartons to hold your scraps! After making my first box and being so relieved that "storing" my scraps doesn't mean purchasing more stuff to try to store them in, I've started going through and ORGANIZING all of my scraps. I'm now looking forward to using them instead of constantly making a mess hunting through them. If you have a ton of scraps you'd like to use up and you enjoy making easy quilts with a cozy scrappy feel, this is a book that's just right!
